What is Herpes or Genital Herpes?

Herpes is caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) and are of two types:

  • HSV-1 (causes sores around the mouth and lips)
  • HSV-2 (causes sores around the genitals and rectum. Also known as ‘genital herpes‘)

Symptoms of Herpes

  • Red, open sores around your genitals, rectum, thighs and buttocks caused by bursting of Small blisters.
  • In women, blisters and ulcers on the cervix
  • Creamy, reddish vaginal discharge
  • Pain when urinating
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • A tingling, burning or itching sensation around genitals
